Sausalito Docks

After the loss of the steamer Sausalito in 1884, the Sausalito docks became the primary NPC docks on the other side of the Golden Gate in San Francisco.

Prototype

The following is a track plan for these docks dated in 1900.

Because of their importance, these docks went through a number of upgrades over the years.  Here's a photo from 1884.

The following passenger shed was constructed in 1894.

After the NPC became the North Shore in 1902, new management tore down the passenger shed and upgraded services.  A new home office and terminal was constructed.  Modifications appear in this photo from 1904.

This colorized photo from a color postcard shows the Sausalito docks in 1909.

Model Railroad

This portion of the layout will be built inside the metal shed.  The following is a plan of the dock area of the inside of the layout.

The dock area is the left side of the drawing.  It contains most of the trackage that existed in late NPC days (1900) as will as the NPC passenger shed shown in an earlier photo.

All dock trackage is in yellow.  Trackage in green dotted lines is underneath the benchwork top.  It allows continuous loop running as well as feeding the staging area and exit to the outside that is located under the trackage in this portion of the layout.
