Olomana Drive Train

Because this is to be a live steam engine to go along with the Fort Wilderness engine, options are somewhat limited for drive train components.  Because the Disney engine is build with Accucraft Ruby parts, it makes the most sense to me to use one of the Ruby Variants as a starting point.  Here are my choices.

ac77010.jpg (101431 bytes) Ruby No 1

Least glamorous Ruby offering correct domes and cab. $335 on eBay.

ac77012.jpg (183968 bytes) Ruby No 2

Virtually identical to No 1.  $449 at St. Albian.

ac77020.jpg (113713 bytes) Ruby No 3 - Ida

Adds headlight, bell, nearly correct stack, nearly correct saddle tank.  Incorrect domes.  $379 at St. Albian.

ac77-022.jpg (55100 bytes) Ruby No 4 - Mimi

Adds lead and trailing truck, correct domes to number 3.  Missing nearly correct stack and saddle tank. $499 at St. Albian.

No picture available. Ruby Kit

I don't know what this contains but is rumored to be around $250.

One of the advantages of the Ruby line is that it is designed for bashing.  Saddle tanks, domes, and tender can be removed without affecting operation.  The trailing truck on the Mimi can be added to the other variants.  Domes can be swapped.  The same is true for the stacks and headlights.

What it comes down to is total cost including extra parts.  All four could be used as a starting point.  Depending on what's included and the amount of assembly required, the kit may be most cost effective starting point.
