Specifications & Dimensions
One of the major issues in modeling this engine accurately from an Aristocraft C16 drive train is the matter of scale. The table further down this page specifically compares actual takeoffs from:
Table of takeoffs:
A comparison of the specifications shows that the Aristo drive train dimensions are much closer to the prototype at 1:24 than at 1:20.3. At 1:24, measurements on overall wheelbase and overall frame length is nearly right on. Overall fixed wheelbase is a bit higher on the prototype. I suspect the Aristo is modeled after a 8-16D while the prototype is an 8-18D with larger cylinders and a longer wheelbase. The difference in driver diameters is most likely due to the fact the NPC engine ran 40" drivers while the Aristo engine was modeled after an engine with 36" drivers. At 1:20.3 many of the dimensions are off by significant amounts. At 1:20.3, I suspect the model wouldn't be convincing. If the Aristo drive train is to be used as the base drive train for this bash, NPC No 1 should be modeled in 1:24 scale. |
